Raw waste from residential and restaurant areas drained into Kinta River significantly polluting the water. Under the "one state and one river policy", Ecowise Enterprise was engaged by the state department to improve the quality and odor problems of the Kinta River.
One of the most polluted side streams that enters Kinta River was identified and two wetlands were constructed to tackle the problem. GOE BioClean plays an important role in the wetland design as a bio augmentation strategy, speeding up the break-down of organic waste at the same time eliminating the odors.
The system successfully improved the water quality from Class 5 to Class 2b which is safe for recreational use and body contact. The offensive smell is completely under control and increasing number of residents once again visit the riverside.
